Larry has hosted many competitions and has maintained athlete records for many years - Larry designed an “Athlete Classification” system to help us add incentive, assign funds fairly, and choose teams for travel trips to out-of-province competitions and inter-provincial competitions. Larry acted as Chairman for the first Level One Coaching Manual developed in Canada for Weightlifting and was also the Chairman of the 1978 Commonwealth Games Weightlifting section for the six years leading up to, and including, the Games. Larry was the coach of the Canadian Weightlifting team at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, Australia and for many other World, Pan-Am, and National competitions as well as Westerns and Provincials.

Dr. Roy Sinclair

Roy is the author of the “Sinclair Coefficients”; A system to compare athletes of all bodyweights to see who is, pound for pound, the best athlete regardless of bodyweight. Roy’s “Sinclair Coefficients” have been adopted by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) and are used in all Weightlifting competitions world wide from our school championships to the Worlds and Olympics. Roy (a Level One Official) has officiated at

many international competitions and continues these services in Alberta.

Dresdin Archibald

Dresdin is a Level One Official and has officiated at many provincial, national, and international competitions. in Edmonton in July 2005.

Lawrence, Roy and Dresdin were very key people in staging the 1978 Commonwealth Games, which was a huge success, and all are still active today. As earlier stated, Lawrence Mather was the Chairman of the Weightlifting Committee for the Games.
